Metrojaya Flash Team GO!
September 19, 2000

Despite a downpour of teeming rain on the day, both the Metrojaya Cheerleaders and the Metrojaya Flash running team turned in sterling performances when they took part in the Rat Race for Charity run around the Golden Triangle business district of Kuala Lumpur.

Our cheerleaders led the warm up and cheered the team off, and the Flash team won the Best Corporate Attire Award.

Organised by The Sun and The Edge publications, the Rat Race for Charity run raised over RM350,000 for the Malaysian Paediatric Foundation which will be used to buy life saving equipment in rural hospitals across the country.

The Rat Race draws its inspiration from a similar event that takes place annually in the financial district of New York in the USA. Hundreds of running "rats" from the corporate world dressed in business attire, carrying briefcases and using their cellular phones, run through the streets of New York City's financial district in Lower Manhattan to raise funds for an international nonprofit organization to advance arts among and by disabled children and adults.
